Published: Oct. 20, 2025

Bioeconomy Ireland Week

During Bioeconomy Ireland Week, The Bioeconomy Breakout escape room brought the bioeconomy and just transition to life across local libraries in Longford, Westmeath, Offaly and Laois. Designed and led by Dr. Emer O'Neill of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), in conjunction with the Marine Institute, the activity invited National and Secondary School students worked together to solve bioeconomy-themed puzzles, decode hidden messages and uncover the secrets of the bioeconomy, all while learning about sustainability, renewable resources and innovation.

The initiative was a tremendous success, engaging the students in hands-on learning and sparking curiosity about Ireland's growing bioeconomy. Librarians and educators praised the vent for its creative blend of fun, teamwork and environmental awareness.
